Kombucha, the "Immortal Health Elixir" of the Chinese is a delicious, naturally carbonated fermented tea drink. Its created when a SCOBY, or symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, tea and sugar ferment, and contains high levels of probiotics, vitamins and enzymes. Kombucha increases the diversity of your gut bacteria and so can enhance the function of your digestive system in general, but especially improves conditions like IBS. It can also help build your immune system, aid weight loss and diabetes, has antibacterial properties, and maintains a healthy heart and cardiovascular system. With all those benefits who wouldn't want to drink glass a day, but possibly at £3 a bottle in the shops you might think twice? In this workshop i'll give you a demonstration of the brewing process, a short presentation on the evidence based benefits of Kombucha, your own SCOBY, some stater tea and reveal all the SCOBY dos and don'ts you need to make your own Kombucha brew. All you need to bring is a jar sterilised with hot water, and distilled vinegar to take it away with you...... A decent sized SCOBY can cost £10 online, and I've seen local competitors offering the same workshop for up to £60, so book your space on this workshop before I come to my senses!
