Retreat Angel -Spring Wader Spectacular

Birding, walking, yoga & nutrition. Single bed in the Family Room

Service Description

Retreat Angels enjoy the retreat experience at reduced rate, but assist and contribute with their specialist skills. Get in touch if you think this is you! The highlight of this four night nature connection, walking, yoga and naturopathic food retreat on the North Norfolk Coast is a sunset Wader Spectacular. Super high tides, and peaks in migrant red knot populations coincide for just a couple of days this April to create this spectacle, which is one of the UK's top wildlife experiences. Only the highest tides push the waders in tens of thousands up to the last dry edge of The Wash, suddenly forcing them all up at once. Shape-shifting murmurations form; a rollercoaster of twist and turn thrills flashing silver, black and red accompanied by a tsunami of shimmering sound. This isn't only for birdwatchers and photographers, its an incredible sensory experience and nature connection therapy for anyone stressed, or burnt out. Your guide has been coming here as a professional bird ecologist, birder and photographer for 25 years. She has plenty more Spring sensations to reveal as you hike across mentally refreshing vistas of salt marsh, sand dune, reed-bed, beach and conifer forest; this place is renowned for its breath-takingly wild biomes, and an international treasure chest for birds! From hunting marsh and hen harriers, kestrels and sparrow hawks, to barn owl, spoonbill, avocet, maybe a ring ouzel, or wryneck could even pass through! You'll experience the golden hour of sunrise too, accompanied by a dawn chorus of bass-booming bitterns, pinging bearded tits, warblers, cuckoos, and purring turtle doves. In Spring, everything from smelling sweet hedgerow blossoms to enjoying views of seals, otter, hare and egg-stealing stoats will captivate and thrill you. Daily yoga, anxiety-busting breathwork, and cacao meditation will always take place outdoors, sometimes on our 15 - 20,000 walks where you can float with the clouds, feel sand between your toes and grasp what it is to be fully alive. Living communally in a spacious rural converted barn, three meals a day are taken care of by Superfood SupperClub using foraged, and locally-sourced produce to connect you more to this environment, its wildlife and teach you what really matters in nutrition for optimal health. Expect to learn as you glow, inside out. Friday 5 April - Wednesday 10 April, with extra days B&B available on request. Bed, board and all activities are included.
