A mobility, stretch & strengthening class designed for lockdown needs
Revive your body by correcting any imbalances created by prolonged sitting during lockdown. Have you noticed increased stiffness, and aches and pains in the hips, spine or shoulders since the pandemic took grip? You are not alone because we've all been more sedentary, using home furniture lacking ergonomic finesse. Even when we can't go to the gym, or don't want to train outdoors keeping basic mobility and strength is vital. When you sit for long periods some muscles can becomes too tight, whilst others become elongated and the weak creating musculoskeletal imbalance, and potential instability in the joints. Its these failures which can lead to stiffness, pain and injury. Researched in physiotherapy and using moves inspired by Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and Animal Flow this class will re-create that flexible strength, and promote core stability. It gives special reference to addressing common muscular imbalances associated with sitting, often hunched over a lap top for too long. Anxiety and depression can follow a sedentary lifestyle. We use breathing practices from Tai Chi and yoga (including pranayama and a meditation) to promote the physiological changes in the body which will help you manage negative feelings. This class is a great preparation for any cardio vascular program you compliment it with. Consider One 2 One (outdoors, or live online if you prefer), or join a socially distanced Outdoor HiiT group.
